Nutella Whipped Cream

Whipped cream from a can may be so convenient but it can never hold a candle to the exceptional flavor of homemade whipped cream.

When it only takes 5 minutes to make and the flavor combinations are endless, it’s a no-brainer to start making it yourself!

I’ve shared peanut butter whipped cream with Chocolate Peanut Butter Ice Cream Cake and Bourbon whipped cream on Maple Cream Pie but Nutella Whipped Cream might be one of my favorites so far!

Nutella has so much flavor you won’t need to add additional sugar or vanilla to your whipped cream, which makes this an easy 2-ingredient recipe.

Homemade whipped cream is a versatile topping to use in many types of recipes. I use this recipe in Nutella Pavlovas but it can be added to enhance many other types of desserts.

Pipe this delectable Nutella Whipped Cream into Gluten Free Choux Pastry to make Gluten Free Cream Puffs, use it as a cake filling for gluten free chocolate cake, dollop it on Gluten Free Angel Food Cake, or fill Gluten Free Chocolate Cupcakes with it before topping them with Nutella Buttercream Frosting.

I prefer this whipped cream as a filling or topping. If you prefer to use it as a whipped cream frosting (like my White Chocolate Whipped Cream Frosting), you may need to add a little gelatin to make a stabilized whipped cream.

Honestly, though, it’s so good you might just want to eat it straight out of the bowl with a spoon.

Enjoy!

Equipment / Tools You’ll Need

Electric Mixer – I like to use a handheld mixer with a whisk attachment for whipped cream but a stand mixer works well too.

Large Mixing Bowl – a large bowl with high sides is the best type of bowl to use for whipped cream because the cream will splatter a bit.

Measuring Cups – I use a liquid measuring cup for the heavy cream and a dry measuring cup for the Nutella.

Mini Supoon – my favorite tool for scraping down the sides of a container or measuring cup to get every last bit of Nutella!

How to Make Nutella Whipped Cream

Storage and Make Ahead Directions

This is best made the day you’ll be serving it. You can make it 2-3 hours before serving and store it, covered, in the refrigerator.

Leftover whipped cream will last 3-5 days in the refrigerator but it will start to deflate after about a day. I don’t recommend freezing this whipped cream as it may separate after defrosting.

Tips for Making Homemade Whipped Cream

  1. Make sure your heavy cream is very cold. I like to keep it towards the back of the fridge to make sure it’s as cold as can be without being frozen. I also often put the bowl and beaters that I’ll be using in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before making the whipped cream
  2. Be sure to whip the heavy cream beyond soft peaks until it reaches stiff peaks. The whipped cream needs to be able to support the weight of the Nutella.
